Waxing Pre & Post care
At A & A Studios, we want your waxing experience to not only be the absolute best, but for you to achieve results. It is recommended that you come in every 4-6 weeks. Doing this will allow your skin to acclimate to waxing, slow your hair growth, and maintain better results between treatments
Personal hygiene- Please bathe or freshen up before your Brazilian, bikini or body wax treatment. Make sure you're extra clean and have gotten all the nooks and crannies.
Skip the lotions- Do not apply self tanners, body sprays, deodorants(for underarm waxing) and other topical creams before your appointment.
Let it grow- If you have been shaving, allow a minimum of 2-3 weeks or ¼-1/2 inch of hair growth. If you have been waxing, allow 4 weeks of growth.
Schedule your wax 2-3 days before beach and poolside jaunts if you plan to sun bathe.
Avoid heat. No tanning beds, hot tubs and saunas before your appointment.
Exfoliate- Exfoliating the area gently 24 hours before your appointment will remove the dead skin cells and allow for a cleaner wax.
Pain Preventives- You can take a pain killer, like Tylenol, 30-45 minutes before your Brazilian appointment if you are worried about discomfort. Aspirin and Ibuprofen are not recommended as they are known to thin blood. You can opt to use a numbing cream on the area to lessen the discomfort.
Be comfy. Wear loose comfortable clothing to prevent irritation after waxing.
Know what you want - Don't be afraid to communicate exactly how much hair you want to keep and be removed.
If you've never had this service, you may not know that you might be asked to help to hold skin and move around so we can get to every last hair.
Pain - It hurts to wax, especially the first time. Everyone is different in their tolerance and perception to pain, but some discomfort is generally expected. If you wax regularly every 4 weeks, you will have less hair to remove - which equals less pain.
To ensure maximum comfort and benefit after the treatment, it is important to follow the steps below at home:
Heightened sensitivity may be experienced in the area waxed for the next 24-48 hours.
Avoid heat. No tanning, sun bathing, hot tubs or saunas for 48 hours after your treatment. Since a layer of dead skin cells have been removed, sun and or heat exposure can burn the skin.
Avoid applying strong fragrance products to the waxed area, such as perfume and scented body lotions.
Apply a cold compress to sooth the skin if you experience sensitivity or irritation after your treatment. Hydro-cortisone cream also reduces the redness and irritation following your treatment.
Exfoliate daily 24-48 hours after your treatment to help eliminate ingrown hairs/breakouts. You can purchase exfoliating gloves at Target, Walmart, CVS, etc. to use in the shower with your body wash. Avoid using harsh, abrasive exfoliates on the face.
Breakouts are common, especially on the face, back, chest and bikini area. You can use an acne product recommended by a skin care professional if you experience break outs.
Hair will not grow back thicker, darker or stronger than it originally was!
We do not recommend for you to tweeze, shave or use a depilatory cream between waxing services.
